Procedures for Visiting Student Class Registration

  • Procedures For Visiting Student Class Registration:  

    Visiting students must complete the following:   

    1) Complete an online application;  

    2) Set up Owllink account online or in person with technology support in Bladen Hall - Room 106 / (301) 546-1153 or email at TechnologyServices@pgcc.edu;  

    3) Go to the Advising Center (Bladen Hall-Room 124) to enroll in classes. Students who are matriculated at a college other than Prince George’s Community College must bring an official or unofficial copy of their transcript for proof of college level coursework.   

    Please make sure that you have approval from your home institution to take a course at PGCC.   PGCC advisors cannot provide advisement on course selection as it relates to the home institution's degree requirements.    

    If you do not have proof of college courses taken (i.e. transcripts) at another college, visiting students must take a placement test for course placement.   

       

    Procedures For Visiting Students Requesting Their Parent's Assistance In Registration For Summer Courses: 

    To ensure student privacy and rights according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and to ensure that prerequisite courses have been met, we require the following information from the parent via the student and the home institution:

    Visiting Students must provide the following documentation that will allow a parent or guardian to act on their behalf for assistance with summer course(s) registration:

    A.  A written statement from the student granting permission for their parent  to complete the registration in their behalf.

    B. The  parent must present an official or unofficial transcript from the student's home institution.

    C. The parent must present a permission form from the home  institution's academic advisor indicating the approved course(s) to enroll at PGCC. 

    D. The parent should complete a PGCC registration form with the specific course information, section designator and synonym number (course section number as stated in the schedule) 

    The parent or guardian should have these documents in their possession and present them upon request at the time of advisement assistance with the registration.
