Campus Security Authorities The documents in this section are for use by those on campus designated as "Campus Security Authorities." These documents help Campus Security Authorities understand and perform their role in complying with the Clery Act. The documents below are emailed to Campus Security Authorities along with electronic copies of the Crime Statistics Report Form. These report forms are utilized by Campus Security Authorities to report crimes that are reported to them. Click on the links below to access Campus Security Authority documents. If you feel that you may qualify as a Campus Security Authority and have not received email notification or supporting documents and forms (see below), please contact the Campus Police at 301-546-0666 or Chief Larry Walker at firstname.lastname@example.org A campus security authority is an official of an institution who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities, including, but not limited to, student housing, student discipline and campus judicial proceedings. An official is defined as any person who has the authority and the duty to take action or respond to particular issues on behalf of the institution. If a campus security authority receives crime information and believes it was provided in "good faith', he or she should document it as a crime report. Because official responsibilities and job titles vary significantly on campuses, the Department of Education does not list specific titles as Campus Security Authorities. To determine specifically which individuals or organizations are campus security authorities at Prince Georges Community College, consider the function of that individual or office. Look for officials (i.e., not support staff) whose functions involve relationships with students. If someone has significant responsibility for student and campus activities, he or she is a campus security authority. Campus Security Authority's Responsibilities: Under the provisions of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, a crime is "reported" when the activity is brought to the attention of a campus security authority by a victim, witness, other third party or even the offender. The function of a campus security authority is to report statisticalClery Act crimes that he or she concludes were made in good faith.
