Prince George's Community College Foundation scholarships are intended to assist students accepted and currently enrolled at Prince George's Community College for academic excellence. Our generous donors have established specific criteria to provide students with scholarships in their related field of study, special interests or careers.

How to Create a Scholarship Fund with the Prince George’s Community College Foundation, Inc.

We look forward to working with you to define and describe your new scholarship. With your instructions we will compose a “memorandum of understanding” that will provide the Foundation with specific direction so that we can administer the scholarship in accordance with your wishes. All gifts toward the creation and maintenance of the scholarship are tax deductible.

To set up a new fund, you’ll need to decide:

What will be your fund’s exact name or title?

    • Would you like the fund to be named in honor or in memory of someone who is important to you? Do you want to include such words as “memorial,” or “endowment*?”

What will be your criteria for scholarship recipients?

    • By law, this has to be a fair and open competitive process, available to all qualified applicants. However, you can list the attributes or qualifications that you would like your recipient to have. For example, you may want them to be a: resident of a specific geographic area, student at a particular school, or a Full-time and/or Part-time student.

    • You may also want them to have a financial need, a grade point average of 2.5 or above, performed volunteer service, participate in community activities or have specific career goals, academic interests and/or achievements.

Which selection committee would you prefer?

•Have the Prince George's Community College Scholarship Committee make the selection
•Create your own committee that can make the selection

How the scholarship award process works:

Most scholarships are awarded in early May before the end of the spring semester. PGCC makes the scholarships available online to students in mid February. If you prefer, you may choose to have your scholarship criteria listed in the electronic scholarship booklet as well. After you’ve had some time to think about your goals and intentions, feel free to give us a call.
