Diverse Male Student Initiatives Program Featured on NBC4

LARGO, MARYLAND - On Thursday, April 28, 2016, PGCC premiered its breakthrough documentary, Striving for the Extraordinary, based on the highly-successful program called Diverse Student Male Initiatives (DMSI) launched on this campus.  The film chronicles the experiences of diverse male students as they embark on their academic journeys, learn profound life-changing lessons about themselves and explore ideas to develops skills for personal success.   

The brainchild of Brian Hamlin who is also the documentary's co-executive producer, DMSI is designed to effectively involve and empower men to focus their energies toward self-improvement, community involvement and completion of their academic pursuits.   Striving for the Extraordinary, produced and directed by PGCC-TV's Angela Brown-Mathis and Marshall Johnson who served as associate producer and editor, has garnered tremendous support from both the College community as well as the media. So much that NBC4 featured DMSI's founder and College administrators on their special human interest program called "Viewpoints".
