LARGO, Md.—Prince George’s Community College has been awarded the Ellucian Datatel Partners in Excellence Award for demonstrating exemplary collaboration and a commitment as an information technology leader among two-year colleges. The college was recognized for its leadership role in creating and managing a forum sharing best practices among colleges in Maryland that use Ellucian Datatel’s Colleague software. As a recipient of the award, the college received a commemorative plaque and a $4,000 unrestricted gift it will use to support the institution’s Envision Success completion agenda.
“The college’s Technology Services Department has been working hard to upgrade the campus’ technology infrastructure,” said Joseph Rossmeier, vice president for Technology Services at Prince George’s Community College. “Being recognized by an industry leader for the technology team’s efforts will be inspirational as the institution moves down the path to expand the resources that ultimately help our students and employees achieve success," he added.
Ellucian awards the Partner in Excellence Award in two categories, two-year institution and four-year institution. Criteria for receiving the award include active participation in the Ellucian client community and sharing best practices; innovative information technology practices and use of Ellucian products; active involvement in the advancement of higher education issues; and leadership in providing quality services for faculty, staff, and students. Prince George’s Community College is a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Two-year Education designated by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security (2010-2015). Established in 1958, Prince George’s Community College provides transfer and career programs that help students transfer to four-year colleges and universities and prepare them for the workforce. Each year, 40,000 students take part in more than 200 academic programs and workforce development and continuing education courses.
