BALTIMORE — The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) has signed academic, programmatic and credit transfer agreements for ITT Technical Institute students, according to a release issued last week. Students can view these transfer agreements on the Maryland Higher Education Commission website at http://mhec.maryland.gov/Pages/itt.aspx.

In addition to finalizing transfer agreements with Maryland institutions, MHEC also said it would continue to work with the bankruptcy Courts to obtain student financial and academic records from ITT.

ITT students have a choice to either continue their education by transferring their ITT credits to a Maryland institution or seek federal loan forgiveness.  Students interested in loan forgiveness are encouraged to visit the US Department of Education website for more information (https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/closed-school).

Students are also encouraged to visit the MHEC website for information about transfer agreements, federal loan forgiveness, and student records.  Students with specific inquiries may call 1-800-974-0203 or send an email to ittclosure.mhec@maryland.gov

Student-veterans should contact the Maryland State Approving Agency for details regarding transferring GI Bill benefits and ensuring program approval for the use of VA Education Benefits.  Veterans with specific inquiries may call 1-800-974-0203 or send an email to vaeducationbenefits.mhec@maryland.gov.
