Prince George’s Community College switched gears on Tuesday, October 29th, to turn its focus toward the machine that ensures the college executes its mission and exceeds its goals semester after semester, year after year. PGCC’s annual College Enrichment Day, wonderfully organized by Lark Dobson, Dean of Human Resources, and her dynamic committee (Donna Barker, Laura Ellsworth, Barbara Kirkwood, Joyce McPherson, Debra Rodriguez and Jada-Roshay Bethea) was centered on the near 2,000-person staff and faculty members who dedicate their lives to transforming others’, and play an integral role in keeping Prince George’s Community College a National Center of Academic Excellence.
This year’s theme, College Responsiveness: Achieving Results through Quality Service, provided an inspiring backdrop for the day’s events with unique breakout sessions that were not only insightful and fun, but a highly effective way to connect staff and faculty members to each other on a more personal level. Professional speaker and team motivator, John Kennedy, added to the energy with an electrifying talk about being unified and proactive in the effort to service customers—who are the students. The lines that connect each department and office on the campus should be blurred when it comes to providing the PGCC community with an unforgettable user experience.
But perhaps the highlight of the day was the Faculty and Staff Honors Convocation. Well-deserving members of the PGCC staff and faculty were recognized for their exceptional service that supersedes paperwork and agendas…they all just simply rock!
