Westphalia Training Center Creates New Job Opportunities

WHO:              

Nearly 100 students who have completed skilled-trades training programs through the Workforce Development and Continuing Education program at Prince George’s Community College

WHAT:            

Students will receive completion certificates in building maintenance engineer, facility management professional, hair braiding, HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration), locksmith, plumbing and residential wiring.

WHY:         

Program participants have secured jobs with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority in fiber optics, high voltage and elevator repair. Students also have been hired as plumbers by Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain Service and Michael & Son Services Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Remodeling. 

Prince George’s Community College at Westphalia Training Center prepares residents of Prince George’s County to quickly reach their goal of obtaining licensure and certification credentials required for in-demand jobs, in addition to certificates of completion for training that can help them obtain entry-level jobs in various skilled trades.
