Darious Jackson, a graduate of Central High School, is no stranger to Prince George’s Community College. As a senior, on a counselor’s recommendation, he applied for and was accepted into a dual enrollment program that allowed him to take courses in forensic and environmental biology at the college. That familiarity made for a smooth transition when he returned to campus as a freshman on a Kathy and Jerry Wood Scholarship. Among his best first year experiences was the creation with friends of Entertain Me, a student club that explores and showcases the various talents of Prince George’s Community College students. An engineering student, Jackson is considering transfer to the University of Maryland to double major in electrical and mechanical engineering. Although he “dreams big,” he is grateful for the opportunity to start out in a smaller learning environment before moving on to a larger institution. Named a 2012 ALANA Distinguished Gentleman of the Year, Jackson was also one of 15 Prince George’s Community College students featured in Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges in 2012.
