Student Success Stories

Fernandina Neptune

Enrolling at Prince George’s Community College, Fernandina Neptune found more than she bargained for. “When I first came to the college I did not expect to be so involved, but the faculty and staff are so supportive and encouraging. I’m glad I came to this
college because the programs offered helped me realize my interest in governance and the importance of voicing opinions.” In spring 2012, Neptune was elected Student Trustee, a position on the college’s Board of Trustees. As she points out, “The college has a lot of beneficial and interactive resources to offer, such as the ALANA mentoring program, the Enrollment Services Student Ambassadors, Pathways to Student Leadership, and even the Honors Program. Students have the potential to make changes to the college that will benefit them; all they have to do is get involved.”
