The Summer Youth Program runs for four weeks beginning the first full week in July. It is for students completing grades two through twelve. Each program day includes courses that are academically focused and interest based. Students may select from either or both tracts. The program begins at 8:30 and ends at 3:30. Additional courses are available until 6pm. Students may register throughout the 4-week program cycle. However, to improve the outcomes we suggest that students begin on the first day of class and remain throughout. In 2014, we are excited to offer Culinary Arts at Prince George's Community College Culinary Center located at John Eager Howard Elementary School,4400 Shell Street, Capitol Heights, MD 20743. Courses will be taught by college level instructors in our Culinary Arts department.

The academic courses focus on strengthening math and language arts skills. The instructional strategy aligns with the Maryland State Curriculum that defines what students should know and be able to do at each grade level. Therefore, students must register for the academic course that corresponds to the grade that was most recently completed. Our instructional staff is comprised of professionals who either hold or is eligible for a Maryland Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment.

Students have access to a robust selection of interest based courses that introduce skills related to high demand career tracks. Students enrolling in these courses gain skills and experience through hands-on, interactive sessions led by industry professionals. Every year, program staff  select courses from an array of proposals submitted by professionals in fields such as law, hospitality, fashion, health, engineering, science, journalism, visual and performing arts.
