HRT-399 - Grow It, Eat It

Do you want to eat fresh organic food?; get more exercise?; reduce stress?; be more self-reliant?; have fun? We can show you how to grow your own vegetables, fruits, herbs, and salad greens. Come see how simple it is to get started growing your own food, whether you have a small bit of land for cultivating, or just a large bucket or two for growing tomato plants in containers. This seminar will cover the basics of planning a garden, preparing the soil, planting, and harvesting a backyard garden. Attendees will be introduced to the myriad resources and references provided by the University of Maryland Extension and the Home and Garden Information Center that will help ensure success throughout the growing season. Instructors: Donna Koczaja and Nicolas Tardif.
