HIS-910 - History of China

From the beginning of recorded history until the 17th and 18th centuries, China excelled. She led in the areas of flood control, agriculture, medicine, technology, printing, and navigation to mention a few. Then she went into free fall only to rise again. Topics will include Confucianism, foot binding and the role of women, the opium wars, the massacre at Tiananmen Square, and China's economic metamorphosis.
