Veterans Upward Bound (TRiO)

  • Program Overview

    What  is Veterans  Upward  Bound? 

    Veterans Upward Bound is a TRiO  program at  Prince George's Community College that provides short-term remedial and  refresher courses for veterans who have delayed pursuing a postsecondary education. The  program's focus on  core academic subject areas is ideal in assisting today's veterans complete a postsecondary educational program.

    The  Veterans Upward Bound program is funded by  the Department of Education to serve 125 first generation and  low-income veterans at no  cost to program participants. This  program will serve veterans residing in Washington DC,  Maryland, and  Virginia. Veterans Upward Bound classes are  held on the campus of Prince George's Community College during the fall,  summer, and spring semesters.

    What  are the features of Veterans  Upward  Bound?

    •  GED assistance

     Academic Year Component

    •  Individualized Academic Assessments

    •  Educational, Social, and Cultural Activities

    •  Weekly Academic Tutoring

    Eligibility Requirements 

    How do I qualify? You must...

    •  be a Citizen or national of the United States

    •  be a Permanent resident of the United States

    •  be a veteran of the U.S. armed forces or possess an unexpired Green Card showing proof  of residency

     Submitting Application

    How do I apply? You must...

    •  submit a completed  screening application

    •  schedule, attend, and complete an intake interview
