What is TECH PREP? TECHnical PREParation is an educational reform initiative supported by Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act. It is designed to prepare students for the workplace. Tech Prep requires students to complete a sequence of academic and technical coursework starting in high school and continuing through postsecondary education to an associate degree or two-year certificate in a technical field. High school students successfully completing Tech Prep programs may receive Prince George's Community College (PGCC) credits at no cost and real life experience in career and technical fields. Why Participate in TECH PREP? The world of work is rapidly changing as careers become more complex and new careers demand increased levels of education. Tech Prep programs provide students with skills through courses that are expected to form a solid academic and technical foundation. *Programs include: Academy of Finance Accounting and Finance Child Growth and Development Computer Networking Careers Drafting/CAD Careers Marketing Management Nursing/Medical Careers Project Lead The Way (Pre-Engineering) *Some programs have specific requirements. Benefits Free college credits! College credits also referred to as articulated credits, may be applied to your Prince George's Community College transcript.
