WELCOME UNIVERSITY TOWN CENTER FACULTY
The following is important information you need to know before you begin teaching at University Town Center. Please feel free to stop by for a tour prior to the beginning of the semester or give us a call on (301) 277-5934. The checklist below contains links to important documents and forms related to UTC, as well as reminders of other important items (like what to do with your contract).
UTC Faculty Checklist
Things you can take care of at Largo.
___ Sign your adjunct faculty contract each semester and return it to your departmental secretary.
___ Obtain Largo voicemail box from your academic department secretary so that it can be included on the syllabus that you will distribute on the first day of class. (Please do not use the University Town Center phone number as your contact number.)
___ Obtain a Novell Client username and password from your academic department secretary at Largo. (This form is also available at UTC.) Doing this will allow you to use the computers in the faculty workroom and it will enable you to obtain an email account on the college GroupWise system.
___ Obtain a main campus parking permit (issued at Largo).
Things you will need to know or take care of at UTC.
___ Get your copier code at the UTC front desk. We have two photocopiers, one near our front desk, and one in the faculty workroom. Please plan to copy your first-day handouts prior to the first day of class. We will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and until 2:00 pm on Friday the week before classes start.
___
Faculty Information Sheet. Completing this form and turning it in at the UTC front desk will help us finalize our contact list and ensure that all of our channels of communication are open.
___
Faculty Parking Permit Form. Turn in this completed form to the coordinator on duty to obtain an access card and hangtag for use of the garage.
___
Parking Map. This document describes the parking process at UTC and includes a map showing the location of the parking garage (Garage B) used by PGCC faculty and staff.
___ Off-Campus Library Services. You can read the college’s Memorandum of Understanding with the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System at this link. The Hyattsville Branch of PGCMLS is on Adelphi Road (within walking distance of University Town Center). You should also know that UTC students can use the Open Computer Lab to access the same research databases that are available at the library on the main campus. Handouts are available in display racks outside each lab.
___ UTC Fall 2006 Newsletter. This is the newsletter for UTC faculty. Produced at least once each semester, it contains a great deal of important information relevant to your teaching experience here.
___ If your class has a computer lab component TBA, confirm the computer lab schedule with UTC staff to put on your syllabus.
