Building Strategic Partnerships

Defining Tomorrow's Marketplace

After almost fifty years as an active partner in the community, PGCC has learned that businesses must often go beyond traditional education to...

Leverage knowledge. Embrace technology. Shape Infrastructure. PGCC Works!

Over the last two decades, Prince George’s County has experienced dramatic growth and demographic change in its metropolitan, suburban, and rural communities. At the same time, there has been a significant influx in the county’s industrial base as well as in service-based professions. Resulting issues are further compounded by the ongoing demand for new and newer industrial technologies, production techniques, and management tools critical to keeping business competitive.

PGCC has always been committed to providing intellectually vibrant, technologically enhanced educational opportunities to the individuals in the workforce. Now, the college is equally committed to positively impact the operation and bottom line of local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and county government. To meet that demand, the PGCC Workforce Development Institutes were established to provide:
  • Strategic partnerships with companies, organizations, and government.
  • Progressive learning opportunities on the cutting edge of discipline-specific industries.
  • Comprehensive career training programs leading to specialized competency credentialing.

Each program area is supported by a coalition of “industry experts” from private-sector business and industry, professional and/or trade associations, government agencies, and other non-government and associated disciplines. Then, as members of a team, the experts participate in the definition, development, implementation, and assessment of the program and industry-specific disciplines. By doing so, PGCC functions as a bridge that connects business and industry in the global marketplace with other functional components, knowledge, and/or students, who may be potential employees.
