Program Summary
PGCC is pleased to offer a new online equestrian program composed of 15 classes created by internationally known author, teacher, and trainer, Don Blazer. He is a working professional with 40 years of experience in the equestrian field and conducts several of the classes himself.
Students can enroll in a single course or several at the same time. By taking a prescribed series of classes, students can earn a Continuing Education Certificate in one of four disciplines:
- Equine Training Certificate
- Equine Management Certificate
- Equine Breeding Certificate
- Equine Competitor Certificate

Whether you want to get into the horse business for love or for money, PGCC is the right place to start. The business is filled with opportunity, and you can be hugely successful, but it doesn’t often happen overnight. Here are some tips from the professionals:
- Be prepared to volunteer. The horse industry thrives on volunteer participation that can provide the vehicle to introduce and get you involved in many aspects of horse-related activities. Often good experience can be gained by offering to work for free. This experience in turn can open doors and help you establish valuable contacts.
- Start at the local level. Gain experience through your community, school, and social connections. Utilize a network of people you are familiar with and expand through regional and state contacts.
- Check the classifieds in trade publications. Frequently excellent opportunities are advertised here. Check not only equine publications but look into sports-related magazines and associations, and club and organizational newsletters.
- Don't limit your objectives. Most importantly, if you can't get into the horse industry right away, generalize your scope, such as learning the principles of large animal care, then, specialize in horses at a later date.

Program Objectives
- Successful completion of each course earns a Certificate of Completion
- Coursework leading to award of a Continuing Education Certificate
- Skills development and preparation leading to a Bachelors degree or professional credentialing
Program Requirements
- All classes are conducted online and through e-mail. Only one course, Training Performance Horses, requires that the student have a access to a horse and the ability to videotape performance for visual evaluation.
- Before you begin classes, you must have a computer with a modem and Internet service provider with your own e-mail address. If you need additional clarification, please call 301-322-0873.
- The refund policy for all of the equestrian classes is as follows: full refunds are given prior to the course start date and through completion of the first class session – NO REFUNDS are given after starting the second lesson. No exceptions will be allowed.
- The start and end dates of the classes are determined by the student. You study at your own pace. Call 301-322-0873 to receive a reference number, which takes 24-48 hours, then, register and pay for your course so you can start studying as soon as the next business day!
