Community Education & Personal Enrichment
Continuing Education provides a variety of non-credit cultural, occupational, educational, and recreational opportunities at nominal cost to Prince George’s County residents. Year-round, over 500 different courses, workshops, and special programs are offered at more than 50 sites around the county. Of the college’s total enrollment of approximately 35,000 individuals, more than 18,000 enroll in non-credit Continuing Education courses.
Courses for Everyone
Courses are offered for open enrollment during the days, evenings, and weekends in a number of different topic areas:
- Community Aquatics, such as swimming lessons for both swimmers and non-swimmers.
- Community Creativity & The Arts, including music, theater arts, and creative writing.
- Community Enrichment & Leisure, from Classical Greek to Juggling to English Tea, curiosity has no limits!
- Community Fitness & Health, to will help you get fit, stay healthy, and just have a good time.
- Community Growth & Advancement, Grow your mind, your skills, your lifestyle.

Courses for Special Populations
- Senior Citizens: Continuing Education offers courses specifically designed for senior citizens, aged 60 or older, residing in Maryland. Subjects include exercise (both ground- and aquatic-based), histories, humanities, foreign languages, nutrition, art, music, etc. Fitness and enrichment courses are offered on campus, at county senior centers, adult day care, and nursing homes throughout the county.
- Mentally challenged adults: The College for Living offers evening courses designed to enhance living skills.
- Developmentally disabled children: The Children’s Developmental Clinic offers Saturday morning activities designed to improve motor reading and language skills.
- Youth: An enrichment skills program for youth grades 2 through 8 is offered during the Summer, and there are courses to supplement home schooling programs already in place. TAG classes are offered for gifted children attending Prince George’s County Public Schools.
