Program Summary
American writer Henry Miller said, “Art teaches nothing, except the significance of life.”
Art reflects and encourages the emotional, physiological, and intellectual development of the student. Art experiences can communicate ideas, express feelings, strengthen self-concept and cognitive skills, develop imagery, foster social interaction and appreciation of different viewpoints, and provide a record of growth. The arts are basic to individual development, enabling students to express, communicate, and become emotionally involved. They enhance memory and learning. The arts teach to the heart and the mind. They enable students to use different learning styles and prior knowledge, pulling together diverse cognitive and affective experiences and organizing them to assist students in understanding.

Please see the

The college encourages students to enter the biannual student art shows held in conjunction with the Academic Art Department. Instructors can assist you with the process of submitting work.
