Program Summary

This program introduces the core concepts and practical techniques required to pursue a career in web programming and web site development. Students will learn how to implement a full-featured Web site on the Internet or a corporate Intranet including deploying dynamic content using JavaScript and related tools.

Now you can get your Internet Webmaster Continuing Education Certificate online! PGCC offers classes in the most popular software packages found in the workplace of advertising and graphic design firms. These courses are primarily for those who want to learn design and layout for advertising, marketing, sales, and promotional purposes. Several of the classes, such as Photoshop and Digital Photography, are also appropriate for applications in the fine arts, commercial art, and Web page design.

By studying with a combination of online and classroom courses, students also can earn a Continuing Education Certificate. Students who successfully complete a series of eight non-credit Internet computer courses at the college in a class room and online format quality for this certificate. To receive the certificate, a student must take four core courses and four additional computer courses. The award is designed to recognize the student's achievement in the use of the Internet for business and personal applications.

 Program Objectives

  • Successful completion of each course earns a Certificate of Completion
  • Coursework leading to award of a Continuing Education Certificate

 Program Curriculum

Students must have prior knowledge of the Windows directory and file structures, work comfortably with browsers, and have at least an intermediate knowledge of the Internet to start in this program. Therefore, the courses, Introduction to Windows and Introduction to the Internet, do not qualify as any of the eight courses required to obtain the Internet Webmaster Continuing Education Certificate.

 Additionally, students must successfully complete four more Internet related computer courses from the DPR courses offered by PGCC. Java and CGI Programming are highly recommended along with Dreamweaver. No courses can be used to qualify for the Computer Continuing Education Certificate.
