These steps must be followed every year for need-based financial aid.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
PGCC School Code: 002089
Complete the FAFSA either by mailing the hard copy application to the Federal Processor OR file electronically by clicking the link below. This is the first step in applying for financial aid.
- Provide Requested Documentation
Be prepared to submit verifying documentation to the financial aid office to support the data you provided on the FAFSA. This documentation may include, but not be limited to: your, your spouse's (if married) and/or parent's signed federal income tax forms and W-2 statements, original social security number cards, and eligible non-citizen documentation. Other documents may be requested after we review your application.
- Get copies of tax returns
If you do not have a copy of your tax return, this will take you to the official web site for the Internal Revenue Service so you may request them.
- Verification Worksheet
Complete a Verification Worksheet. If you have provided parent income information on the FAFSA, you must complete a Dependent Verification Worksheet and have one parent signature in addition to your student signature. If you have provided only student (and spouse) income, complete an Independent Verification Worksheet.
- Selective Service Administration
Men in the U.S. are required to register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Men must be registered to be in compliance with federal law and stay eligible for student loans and grants, government jobs, job training, all security background clearances, and U.S. citizenship for immigrants.
- Email the Financial Aid Office
Contact the Financial Aid Office if you have questions about the documentation you have been asked to provide.

Awards
If you are eligible to receive financial aid, you will be sent an award letter to your home address. Also, you may view your awards on Owllink. If you have been awarded financial aid, you should review “Understanding Your Financial Aid Awards”
-
Entrance Counseling
If you plan to borrow through the Federal Stafford Loan program, you must first apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as described above. In addition you need to complete entrance counseling so that you can understand the terms of your loan. You will also need to complete a loan request form once your FAFSA application has been processed.
Complete entrance counseling online.
- Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals
Students who receive federal student financial aid must meet satisfactory academic progress (SAP) standards according to the institution. PGCC students who do not meet SAP standards are notified in writing and are not eligible to receive financial aid unless an appeal is approved by the Financial Aid Committee. If you believe that you have been suspended from financial aid due to SAP issues, you may use the form below to file your appeal.
