Board of Trustees’ Legacy Scholarship
The Board of Trustees’ Legacy Scholarship was established to recognize graduates of Prince George's County high schools who demonstrate high academic ability and strong leadership qualities. Scholarship recipients are selected from among those who meet the eligibility requirements and who are committed to attending Prince George's Community College.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Candidates must submit an application for admission to PGCC and plan to enroll as a full-time student.
- Candidates must be a resident Prince George's County, attend an eligible in-county high school, and be a graduating senior in this academic year.
- Candidates must have a minimum cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 and a minimum combined SAT score of 1150 (verbal and math only) or a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and one of the following:
- SAT score of 1050
- ACT score of 23
- Minimum combined score of 203 on the Prince George's Community College Computerized Placement Tests in reading comprehension and sentence skills and a minimum score of 45 on the Computerized Placement Test in College Level Mathematics.
- Candidates must submit two letters of nomination from high school officials who are familiar with the candidate’s academic performance and leadership ability. For example, nominators may include a principal, teachers, or guidance staff.
- Candidates must submit a list of the major co-curricular, community and leadership activities in which the candidate has been involved during his/her high school years.
- Candidate also must submit a concise statement of 200-300 words explaining why he/she should be selected as a Board of Trustees Legacy Scholarship recipient and what he/she expects to achieve while at PGCC.
