LARGO, Md.— Prince George's Community College hosts its 16th Annual Bluebird Blues Festival on Sunday, Sept. 28, 1-6 p.m. in front of Novak Field House and in the Hallam Theatre of the Queen Anne Fine Arts building, on the Largo campus. Free admission to the event provides attendees access to live entertainment, children's activities, food, giveaways and a variety of vendors.
“This year, the festival will kick off a week of inaugural activities for President Charlene M. Dukes,” said Andristine Robinson, chair of the Bluebird Blues Festival Committee. “We have an outstanding line-up of performers and look forward to a wonderful festival,” she added.
Bettye LaVette, the headliner act, will appear on the main stage in front of the Novak Field House. Other performers on the main stage include alumni Michael James “Blues” Baker and the Blue Smoke Blues Band, Memphis Gold and the Holmes Brothers.
The blues workshop, a crowd-favorite, provides visitors with a history of the blues led by Barry Pearson in the Queen Anne Fine Arts building. Michael Baytop & Rick Franklin, Warner and Jay and Larry Johnson are featured musicians during the workshop.
