LARGO, Md.— Prince George’s Community College hosts the Sixth Annual Journalism and Communications Workshop for local middle and high schools and PGCC students on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in Largo Student Center on the main campus.
“For more than five years, the audience of the Journalism and Communications Workshop has been high school and Prince George's Community College students,” said Jennifer Price, director of recruitment. “This year, we have opened our doors to middle school students to build relationships and provide opportunities the college has to offer,” she added.
The workshop’s theme is “Expanding Networks in the Social Media Revolution.” Featured journalists and communication professionals will share their experiences of the impact the Internet has made on media. The workshop also will address skills needed to work in print and broadcast professions and tips and advice on how to prepare for a career in communications.
Workshop presenters include keynote speaker Raoul Dennis, editor of PG Suite magazine; Talibah Chikwendu, executive editor, The Afro American; Scott Jaschik, editor, Inside Higher Ed; and Michael Scrivener, media specialist, Howard Community College.
