120 students to be inducted in prestigious Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society

 

Nearly 200 Students Receive Academic Honors at Convocation

 Largo, Md. ­– Prince George’s Community College will honor 191 students representing 26 departments and programs and four academic divisions at its 2010 Student Honors Convocation on April 28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Queen Anne Fine Arts building.

 “To have nearly 200 students eligible to receive special recognition for reaching these significant academic milestones is an extraordinary achievement not only for the students but for the college,” says Dr. Melinda J. Frederick, coordinator, Honors Program/Honors Academy. “The students are shining examples of our core values of excellence, success, diversity, respect, professionalism and lifelong learning.”

 Twenty-nine Honors Program students will receive a Citation in Honors and all 12 graduating members of the Honors Academy will transfer to partnering four-year colleges and universities and receive academic scholarships.

 For more than 15 years, the Honors Program has hosted the Convocation to recognize academic excellence across campus departments and divisions.

 The convocation is open to invited guests and honorees.
