Paying for College

  • At Prince George’s Community College, affordability is part of our mission. Lack of financial resources should not keep you from attending college. If you need assistance with paying tuition, there are a number of options available.

What kinds of aid are available?

Financial aid can take the form of scholarships and grants, which do not need to be repaid, and loans, which must be repaid. Work-study programs that allow students to earn money for education are also available. Aid is available from both public and private sources.

Am I eligible for financial aid?

It depends on the type of aid you are seeking. Federal student aid is available only to U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens with a valid U.S. Social Security number who are qualified to attend college and are making satisfactory academic progress. Male applicants between the age of 18 and 25 must be registered with the Selective Service. These are the basic requirements. For more, see Common Questions.

Private scholarships and grants have their own individual eligibility requirements. Contact the Office of Student Financial Aid for information on scholarships offered through the college and for help on researching private sources of funding.

    How do I Get Started?

Fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Apply online at The information you provide on the FAFSA will help determine the types and amount of aid you are able to receive. You will need the school code for Prince George’s Community College, which is 002089.

    When should I apply?

The online FAFSA is available beginning on October 1st of each year. We recommend applying as early as possible, but no later than March 1 in order to ensure the greatest access to financial aid funds.
