Director of Advising and Career Services
Mr. Clifford Collins is in charge of our department. He came to our college after having served in the Air Force until retirement. He was an instructor of Instructional Technology for the CCAF, served as manager of a CCAF education center and finished his military career as the superintendent of education and training for the staff of the Special Air Missions program at Andrews Air Force Base (1998-2000). He received an A.A.S. degree from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor’s Degree from Troy State University, and a Masters of Education degree from Wilmington College. When time permits he advises students and often works with those who are interested in ROTC. I won’t tell you to “drop in” to see him, but he is certainly available by appointment.
Coordinators/Managers
We also have two coordinators and one manager in the Advising area. They are not advisors, but they do advise and work with transfer, when their other duties permit.
Dr. Leon Weaver is the Coordinator of International Student Services. He has been at the college for many years and has a wealth of information about admissions, international students, career and transfer. Dr. Weaver also coordinates our transfer programs with Bowie State University and shares that knowledge with staff and students alike. He goes the extra mile in helping students with their needs. Dr. Weaver has a Bachelor’s Degree from Howard University, a Master’s Degree from American University and a Doctorate from Walden University.
Art Asuncion is Coordinator for Special Programs. He has been at the college for many years. He began as a career counselor, but later changed to academic advising. He coordinates our Target, new student orientation program, The Special Testing and Advising Program for High School Students, and The Nursing and Allied Health Orientations. He coordinates staff scheduling, training, retirements and holiday celebrations. I’m getting tired just writing about what he does. He is also the departmental computer expert. Art is our ultimate advisor in Nursing and Allied Health. We rely on his expertise and good judgment. Art is a veteran and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Valdosta State University while in the military. He received his Masters Degree from George Washington University.
Veronica Alford is Manager of Transfer and Articulation. You met her on the Transfer Advisors Page.

She is the person to ask about CAP 103 and CAP 131 (Career Assessment and Planning, and PAS 101(Principles and Strategies of Successful Learning) courses. She is available to assist you with any college success questions you may have and she knows a lot about career planning as well.
Barbara Sanders has worked in Advising for more then 30 years. She is an expert in all areas of advising and Prince George’s Community College life. She works full time in Advising now only during the “Peak Times” of August and January. The other months of the year, she teaches CAP 103 (Math Confidence Building) and PAS 101 (Principles and Strategies of Successful Learning). We feel fortunate to have her work with us any time her schedule permits, and the CAP students are extremely fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and caring teacher. Barbara’s dad was career military and she grew up on military bases. Maybe that accounts for her friendly and open personality. She never meets a stranger and always knows what’s going on with her friends wherever they may be. Barbara received her Bachelor’s Degree from The University of South Florida and her Masters degree from Memphis State University.
