Message From The Dean
The
Developmental Mathematics program provides students with an opportunity to take pre-college mathematics in order to prepare for credit math literacy and critical thinking skills in arithmetic and algebra. The Developmental Math Program also emphasizes study and test-taking strategies, calculator, computer skills and laboratory skills - all important for success in college.
The
Developmental Reading and English program provides students with an opportunity to strengthen their skills in reading comprehension, grammar, writing, and critical thinking. Students take Developmental Reading and English in order to prepare for credit level English, and all courses with a reading prerequisite at the college. The Developmental Reading and English program also emphasizes study and test-taking strategies, and computer laboratory skills - all important for success in college.
Students can work with faculty, mentors and counselors to address special needs and concerns. All course offerings in the division are characterized by the following:
- A variety of scheduling options, including day, evening or weekend.
- Half-semester sessions, summer sessions, intersessions, fast-track and math review options.
- A choice of class type, including traditional instructor-led, self-paced and on-line.
