A degree in mathematics is excellent preparation for a career in fields such as medicine, education, physics, law, chemistry, computer science, business, economics, statistics, and even the social sciences.  All of these disciplines rely heavily on mathematical methods and the critical thinking that mathematics requires.  In mathematics courses, students develop their ability to think critically, solve problems, explore various technological tools, and apply mathematical skills to other fields.  The strength of this challenging major is its versatility.  Students find that a major in mathematics complements virtually any career.

The Mathematics Department at Prince George's Community College offers a full spectrum of 25 mathematics courses - from algebra to statistics, pre-calculus, and calculus.  The courses are taught by 17 full-time faculty in addition to a number of part-time faculty who work in research, industry, government, and education.
