Welcome!
You’ve made an excellent decision by choosing Prince George's Community College (PGCC). This is a learning centered college that’s designed to help you be successful in reaching your educational goals, enriching your life, and integrating you into the college community — all while also having fun. Here’s how to begin.
The Enrollment Process
1. Apply for Admissions
Apply Online
You can complete the admissions application online and pay the $25 application fee by completing the online Application for Admissions & Records.
Apply In-Person
You can pick up an Admissions application from the Office of Admissions & Records located in Bladen Hall, Room 126. Once you’ve carefully completed it, return it to the Office of Admissions & Records along with a $25 application fee. The fee is payable by check or money order to PGCC or by credit card or cash to the Cashier's Office.
If you are a returning student and have not been absent for more than two consecutive years, you may want to see an advisor before you apply for financial aid and register for courses. If you have been absent for more than two academic years, you must re-apply for admission and submit the $25.00 application fee.
2. File for Financial Aid
Now that you have applied to the college, you may want to consider filing for financial aid. To do so, please complete the application for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please file the FAFSA early to allow enough time for your financial aid to be processed before classes begin. Once your form is processed and you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR), please visit the Financial Aid Office to complete the process. You must submit your SAR form to the Financial Aid Office to receive aid. For additional information on student aid and the F.A.C.T.S. payment plan, visit the Applying for Financial Aid.
Prince George's Community College school code is 002089.
3. Take the Placement Test
Next, visit the Student Assessment Center to complete the Accuplacer Placement Test. This test will evaluate your basic skills in reading, English, and math. Studying is not required but a review of the sample test questions is recommended. Some students who have prior college credit or high scores on the SAT or ACT may not have to take the test. Those students should consult an advisor regarding which tests they must complete. The test is administered Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am - 6:00 pm and Friday 8:30 am - 12:00 pm. No appointment is necessary. Bring a valid photo ID and a calculator to the test. Your scores will print immediately following completion of the Accuplacer Test.
4. Be Advised
After the placement test, please bring your test score(s) to meet with an advisor in the Advising Office. An advisor will evaluate and discuss your scores with you for proper class selection. In some cases, you might be counseled to retake the Accuplacer Test. Once you have decided which courses to take, complete the Registration Form and have your advisor sign it.
5. Register for Courses
Now, take your Registration Form to the Office of Admissions & Records where a staff member will formally register you for the courses by entering them into the computer system. Returning students may register online through eSTAR provided they have a pin number or by phone through STAR.
6. Pay Your Bill
At the end of the registration process, you will receive your bill for the semester. Go directly to the Cashier's Office to make payment arrangements. The college offers several options for payment including cash, credit, financial aid awards and the F.A.C.T.S. payment plan.
7. Purchase Books
You’re finally ready to visit the College Bookstore, to purchase the books and supplies you’ll need for the semester. Bookstore staff will be able to help you locate those materials needed for each of your specific courses.
8. Succeed at PGCC!
Again, welcome to PGCC! Have a great semester! Remember, as a student, you have access to many valuable services on campus including: Tutoring & Writing Center, College Life Services, Student Development Services and the Career Center.
