Community Education provides a variety of non-credit cultural, occupational, educational, and recreational opportunities at nominal cost to Prince George’s County residents. Year-round, over 500 different courses, workshops, and special programs are offered at more than 50 sites around the county. Of the college’s total enrollment, more than 18,000 enroll in noncredit Continuing Education courses.
Courses for Everyone
Courses are offered for open enrollment during the days, evenings, and weekends in a number of different topic areas, such as:
- Art & Entertainment Programs including music, theater arts, and creative writing.
- Recreation,Wellness & Fitness Programs such as the as aquatics program which offers swimming lessons for both swimmers and non-swimmers
- Enrichment & Special Studies to grow your mind, your skills, your lifestyle such as adult basic education (ABE) and English for Speakers of Other (ESL)
PGCC also has courses for special populations:
* The College for Living offers evening courses designed to enhance living skills of mentally challenged adults.
* The Children’s Developmental Clinic offers Saturday morning activities to improve the motor, reading and language skills of developmentally disabled children.
* The
Youth Program offers enrichment skills courses for youth grades 2 through during the summer, and there are courses to supplement home schooling programs as well. TAG classes are offered for gifted children attending Prince George’s County Public Schools.
