Program Summary
PGCC is not just for adults! We offer a robust series of programs for youth too! PGCC Youth Programs are divided into three functional groups:
- Summer Youth Program -- for students leaving grades 2-7, looking for an intellectually challenging summer paired with fun, interest-based activities;
- Home Schooling -- to provide the classes parents need to fill the gaps in home schooling efforts – where specialized equipment or knowledge is required or where group efforts are integral to the learning process; and
- TAG Programs -- for “talented and gifted” underage students who do not yet have a high school diploma or GED and who do not meet the age requirements for concurrent enrollment, yet their level of learning and knowledge qualifies them for advanced study.
The following courses are examples only. Not all courses are offered every semester, nor are they necessarily available to students in all functional groups. Please see the Schedule of Noncredit Classes for details.
Home Schooling & How the College Can Help
Prince George’s Community College can assist you with your home instruction efforts this year! The Home School Initiative is designed to give you the classes you need to fill the gaps in your home schooling efforts. All instructors are on staff at the college and are excited about working with you and your children. We welcome your input in helping us build a program that will meet your needs. We are in partnership with home school families to design a program that can be used to supplement the home schooling already in place.
Credit Classes Open to 16 Year Old Students
If your child is 16 years of age or older, you are encouraged to consider regular credit classes. Call 301-322-0866 to request an application. You will need to see an academic advisor and must take placement tests as needed. Get started now on your college education.
