Do to lighting issues in the aquatics areas of the natatorium there are currently no swim classes scheduled for the Spring 2019 semester. We are hoping to resume swim classes for the Summer 2019 semester starting in June. Please check for the class you are looking for on Owl Link at

We are pleased to have you in our swim lesson program at the Robert I. Bickford Natatorium!

The Swim Lesson program is made possible in part through funding by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's County (M-NCPPC). Together we hope to provide you with a wonderful learn-to-swim experience.

Our classes
We offer classes for children and adults at all levels:

SWM-301 Bobbers 3 - 5 years
SWM-302 Floaters 3 - 5 years
SWM-303 Strokers 1 & 2 3 - 5 years
SWM-304 Youth 1 6 - 13 years
SWM-305 Youth 2 6 - 13 years
SWM-306 Youth 3 6 - 13 years
SWM-307 Youth 4 6 - 13 years
SWM-308 Youth 5 6 - 13 years
SWM-313 Youth 6 / Fundamentals of Diving 6 - 13 years
SWM-309 Adult Beginner 14 years and above
SWM-310 Adult Intermediate 14 years and above
SWM-311 Adult Advanced 14 years and above

Program policies
  • Participants must register for a class at their age and skill level. Individuals will not be allowed to participate in inappropriately registered classes, nor will any refunds be issued or transfers made.
  • Parents and spectators, including minor children, may attend the first and last classes only.
  • Make-up classes are not available.
  • Due to the number of skills taught in each course, participants may need to repeat levels.
  • Water safety topics are incorporated into classes.
  • Refunds are not available. Please register for the appropriate class
  • Per college policy, children must have adult supervision at all times. Instructors supervise students during class time only.
