Career assessment and exploration

A career assessment helps you identify your preferences and interests, matching them with potential careers. Use the career assessment questionnaire on the Career Coach tool to focus on the careers that suit you best.

Schedule a career-advising appointment through Navigate to discuss your career assessement results.

Résumé review and cover letter writing assistance

Templates and resources for résumés and cover letters are available on the Prince George’s Community College Career Transition platform. Use them or other available career resources as a guide and tool to create a résumé and cover letter draft to submit your assigned academic and career advisor for review. Once approved by your advisor, submit your résumé and cover letter through College Central Network (CCN) where they can be activated for employer viewing and used to apply for opportunities noted on the ccn site.

Job search and career readiness training (interviewing, soft skills training)

Develop a successful job search strategy and learn about social networking on LinkedIn. Schedule a mock interview, and we will help you practice and improve your interview and soft skills for success in the workplace. Schedule your Career Services appointment through Navigate

Internship opportunities and assistance

Experiential learning such as internships, clinicals, and field work prepares students to enter the workforce with employer-desired knowledge and skills. Activate your College Central Network (CCN) student account to prepare for experiential learning course enrollment. Review the Student Guide to Internships or Allied Health and Nursing Student Guide for College Central Network Clinical Experience Enrollment as appropriate. Schedule a Career Services appointment on Navigate to discuss internship and experiential learning eligibility requirements and options.

Connect your Academic Pathway at Prince George’s Community College and your Career by using College Central Network (CCN) to find job and internship opportunities, build a résumé, and get help writing cover letters and preparing for interviews.

The network offers access to local and national job postings and tools to enhance job-seeking skills. It includes a community job board, connects registered users to local employers, and has a search engine that offers access to more than 500,000 available jobs nationwide. The College Central Network is available for use at no-cost to PGCC students, alumni, community members, and employers.

College Central Network also offers:
  • Podcasts:  More than 100 shareable career podcast episodes with all major career categories covered.
  • Résumé Builder: Create and submit a competitive résumé for posting on the CCN site and for general circulation.
  • Visual Career Portfolios:  Create and develop life-long career portfolios (students, alumni, and community residents)
  • Career Articles: Topics related to career preparation and development
  • Career Advice Documents: Address FAQs on career-related topics
  • Career Videos: Provide career guidance on a variety of career-related topics

Career Coach

Career Coach provides information about the local job market at no cost to students, alumni, and community members.

Career Coach provides:
  • Career Assessments: access two online Holland Code-based assessments that match user interests and temperaments 
  • A Résumé Builder: create, save, and submit a professional résumé
  • Career Data: explore careers and relevant data on wages, employment, and training needed
  • Program Information: search for available PGCC programs that lead to a desired career goal
  • Civilian Careers for veterans: find civilian careers related to skills gained in the military

Career Coach can be used without creating an account, but setting up an instant account will allow the user to save assessment and search information.

Resume Target

Resume Target offers additional no-cost job-search tools.

Resume Target includes:
  • Career Advice:  View online articles on résumé writing, job search strategy, LinkedIn, and recruiting
  • Job Alerts: Receive daily job alerts indefinitely; receive a list of job postings by position title; access job postings within a desired geographic area; and receive a list of suitable job postings from major and niche job boards across North America.
  • Résumé Templates:  Access hundreds of résumé templates to customize for use within a desired field/industry and a specific level of experience.
  • Get Pro Help: Contact Resume Target’s professional résumé writers for free résumé writing service.
