Prince George's Community College Hosts 65th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 18, at Show Place Arena
LARGO, MD (May 7, 2024) — Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) is hosting its 65th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD. To set the tone for this special event, a DJ will provide music in the parking lot, and a 360 photo booth will allow students to capture memories from every angle.
“We are excited to celebrate the Class of 2024,” said President Falecia D. Williams, Ed.D. “We are proud of these students. This achievement represents countless hours of hard work and determination. Our commitment to student success drives everything we do, and it's a joy to see our graduates reach this milestone. Congratulations to the PGCC Class of 2024.”
More than 1,500 students are expected to grace the stage this year, which includes 369 students graduating with honors and 179 graduates from the College’s Early and Middle College Programs.
Daisy Navarro is the 2024 Distinguished Graduate Speaker for this year’s commencement ceremony. Daisy is a First-Generation Mexican-American who began her journey at the College in Fall 2020 as a dual-enrollment student. She is a member of Women of Wisdom (W.O.W.), Trio, STEM Collegian Center, PGCC's Honors Society, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, and the Student Research Club. Daisy was awarded the Prince George’s Community College Science Achievement Award and will transfer to the University of Maryland, College Park. She hopes to become a doctor to give back to her community and work with underprivileged communities.
Additional speakers include Falecia D. Williams, Ed.D., president of Prince George’s Community College; Tomeka Bumbry, chair of Prince George’s Community College Board of Trustees; and Clayton Railey, Ph.D., executive vice president and provost of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success.
