Prince George's Community College Joins Community College Month Campaign

LARGO, MD (April 19, 2024) Prince George’s Community College proudly participates in Community College Month (#CCMonth), a grassroots initiative organized by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). The College commits to the objectives of #CCMonth, aiming to increase recognition of the economic, academic, and equity benefits characteristic of community college education. By dispelling misconceptions surrounding public two-year colleges, Prince George’s Community College hopes to foster a more inclusive and informed perspective on higher education.

“Community colleges are vital to our community and our state,” said President Falecia D. Williams, Ed.D. “Community College Month is an opportunity to celebrate the importance and value of Prince George’s Community College to our community and to demonstrate how we are cultivating skills for the future.”

Community colleges guarantee access to affordable higher education, allowing students pursuing a bachelor’s degree to save money while receiving quality education. They are the primary educators of workforce development, including medical assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, among others. Additionally, community colleges provide support for adult students who have to work to support their families. Most community colleges offer resources and flexibility that make it possible for students with other life commitments to enroll and complete their programs.

Prince George’s Community College is proud to have served students and the community for 65 years. Community colleges cultivate skills for the future and enrich lives.
