From Kujichagulia to Afrofuturism
This year, for Black History Month, the AASI is collaborating with the Center for Performing Arts, to present the Taratibu Youth Association—a Prince George's County youth dance ensemble, for their annual Black History Show.
This remarkable performance showcases a diverse array of talents from black women of Prince George's County. It's an artistic blend that goes beyond dance, embracing multiple genres including ballet, West African dance, modern dance, and South African gumboot. Their performances are a vibrant celebration and reflection of the experiences, challenges, and achievements of people of African descent. It's a powerful and culturally immersive experience. Having graced stages regionally, nationally, and globally, their shows are not to be missed.
