Prince George’s Community College Men’s and Women's Basketball Teams Win Mid-Atlantic District Championship Games

LARGO, Md. (March 4, 2024) The Prince George's Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams won the 2024 National Junior College Athletics Association Division III Mid-Atlantic District Basketball Tournaments on Saturday, March 2.
The PGCC Owls men’s basketball team defeated Sandhill Community College with a score of 96-84. The PGCC women’s basketball team defeated Patrick & Henry Community College with a score of 67-58.

As the winners of the district championship games, both PGCC Owls basketball teams will now advance to compete in the 2024 NJCAA DIII National Basketball Championship for a national title from March 13-16.
Prince George's Community College has been approved by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) to upgrade its Division III intercollegiate athletic teams to the Division II level, beginning with the 2024-2025 academic year. The College will now be able to offer scholarship opportunities to student-athletes pursuing a college degree while participating in intercollegiate athletics.
This milestone presents a wonderful opportunity to enhance the institution’s athletic programs and provide new avenues for student-athletes to excel. With this upgrade, PGCC’s soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball teams will transition to competing at the Division II level.
