Honors students share their experiences!

Below are testimonials from our students:

I believe that everyone deserves to have a holistic college experience. College isn’t just about learning and academics; it is essential to be a part of your institution/community and the Honors Academy gave me to an opportunity to do so. I was able to challenge myself academically and I was also able to get involved in organizations that helped me develop my leadership, organization, and communication skills. Being a member of the Honors Academy is something that I am very proud of, it is a program everyone should strive to be a part of.

Kosisochi Egbe – Honors Academy member, May 2021 graduate

Being a part of the Honors Academy has allowed me to be academically stimulated. Through honors courses and honors contracts, I have been able to receive more rigorous course work and take more away from my classes and professors. I also gained a network of people who passionately helped me to succeed and pushed me to take advantage of distinct scholarship opportunities. Through the Honors Academy I have been further molded and recognized as a qualified scholar and am able to carry that on to my university of choice.

Kirstin Floyd – Honors Academy member, May 2021 graduate

"My experience being a member of the Honors Academy has been wonderful. I have been able to network with other committed and industrious students through the Academy. The periodic advising sessions, offered by the Honors Academy advisors throughout each semester, have also helped me stay on track with my program of study. The Academy has motivated me to be diligent and successful in all my classes as I aim to maintain my GPA and scholarship. Thanks to the Honors Academy, I am able to focus on my college education without worrying about tuition."

Frances Oladimeji – Honors Academy member, Dec. 2021 graduation candidate

Being a member of the Honors Academy has really impacted me and prepared me for the future. Prior to joining the Honors Academy, I am an individual who is shy to speak in front of others, and I keep my ideas and suggestion to myself. However, since I joined the Honors Academy, I have become a better person and becoming my best. I was able to realize the potentials I have, and I was able to use it by serving as the Honors Public Relation Officers. I was able to do what I love doing like editing videos, creating flyers, managing the social media and more. I have learned what responsibility, time management, and teamwork is all about. Also, I was able to collaborate with outstanding and intelligent students who has helped me academically by creating study sections, video meets, pods, and other things that could help me do better. Financially, it has impacted me and my parents because I am on scholarship, my parents do not have to worry too much about paying my fee. Now I can share my ideas, stand up to myself, and speak out in public even if it is not perfect yet, and all thanks to the Honors Academy. Thank you so much for this opportunity.
