We offer prior-year tax preparation services to the community at no cost. 

How to Get Started

To start the process, make an appointment with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. An IRS-certified volunteer tax preparer will prepare your tax forms. Tax appointments for prior year taxes are only for 2018 to 2023.

Prior Year Tax Preparation (2018-2023): Closes Oct. 15

Filing Limitations

Maximum Income Limit: $60,000.

We do not prepare returns with the following:

  • Business returns with expenses over $25,000 or a net loss.
  • Extensive or complex stock transactions.
  • Rental property.
  • Moving expenses.
  • Purchase or sale of a home.
  • Office-in-home.
  • Nonresident/foreign student (1040NR).

 

Drop-Off Appointment Times and Process
Hours of Operation:

Monday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Wednesday: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Tax Process:

  • Tax preparation is by appointment only. No walk-ins.
  • Taxpayers should arrive at their scheduled time, complete all intake documents, and participate in a drop-off interview session.
  • Taxpayers will drop off the required documents and be scheduled to pick up completed returns the following week.

Save time by completing and printing the Intake Form before coming to the drop-off site.

The Drop-off Tax Service is held in Chesapeake Hall, Room 108, Parking Lot B.

Chesapeake Hall is located off of Largo Road (Route 202), near the Culinary Art Building.

 

Make Your Prior Year Drop-off Appointment

Please bring the following items:

  • Photo ID for yourself and your spouse
  • Original Social Security cards or ITIN letters are required for yourself, your spouse, and all dependents. No photocopies.
  • Social Security Number of your spouse, if married filing separately
  • Birth dates of dependents
  • Wage and earning statements (W-2, 1099R, Social Security, etc.)
  • Unemployment statement (1099G)
  • Bank interest statements
  • If insurance was purchased through the marketplace (www.Healthcare.gov) or State Marketplace, bring from 1095A
  • Stimulus Check Letters from IRS
  • Advanced Child Care Credit Letters from IRS
  • Bank check for direct deposit information
  • Last year’s tax returns, if available
  • All other tax documents
