Carpenters construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. Carpenters are involved in everything from the building of highways, bridges, homes, and apartments, to the many residential tasks such as the installation of kitchen cabinets, windows, partitions, and doors. Because they are exposed to the entire construction process, carpenters have more opportunities than most other construction workers to become construction supervisors.

About Our Courses
CRP-301 Introduction to Carpentry:
Level 1, Part 1 4.8 CEUs
This is the first level of NCCER curriculum for carpentry students. Topics include an orientation to the trade; basic safety; building materials, fasteners, and adhesives; hand
and power tool usage; and blueprint reading. Textbook: NCCER Level 1 Carpentry, basic tools, and calculator required.
Prerequisite: OCU-410. Note: Due to scheduling, the required OCU-410 Introductory Craft Skills (Core) may be completed concurrently.
CRP-302 Introduction to Carpentry:
Level 1, Part 2 4.8 CEUs
This course is a continuation of NCCER Level 1 curriculum for carpentry students. Topics include floor systems; framing walls and ceilings; and an introduction to concrete and reinforcing materials. Textbook: NCCER Level 1 Carpentry, basic tools, and calculator required. Prerequisite: CRP-301.
CRP-307 Carpentry Level 1 Part 3
Level 1, Part 3 5.70 CEUs
This is the third course in the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Level 1 carpentry curriculum. Topics include: Ceiling Joist & Roof Framing and Basic Stair Layout. Prerequisite: Carpentry Level 1 pt 2. Textbook: NCCER Level 1 Carpentry basic tools, and calculator required. Prerequisite: CRP-302.
