Program Description

Students in the Health Promotion and Wellness, A. A.S. study the complex and evolving world of health and wellness. They receive a solid foundation in personal and community health, health literacy, biological sciences, fitness, and wellness concepts and skills. Students assess various lifestyle choices as they relate to promoting health and the concepts learned in coursework to various populations. Throughout this program students explore careers in the health, wellness, and fitness fields. Students can choose from two tracks, Health Promotion or Wellness.

Students may also obtain industry related certifications such as First Aid/CPR and Personal Trainer (ACE).

This degree prepares students for entry-level employment in community health, worksite wellness, health coaching, and fitness training.

Graduates of the Health Promotion and Wellness, A.A.S. will be able to:

  • Analyze issues related to personal and community health.
  • Apply concepts of fitness, health, and wellness to various populations and in specific contexts.
  • Evaluate lifestyle choices for promoting healthy behaviors.
  • Apply skills that enhance health, fitness, and wellness.
  • Demonstrate first aid and CPR skills.
