Program Description

The 36-hour Driver Education Program is for beginning drivers who wish to obtain a Maryland Class C driver’s license.

Program Features

  • Students learn from professional Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) certified instructors who patiently and courteously coach the new driver.
  • Schedules are flexible and include day and evening classes.
  • Drivers are trained in late model, specially-equipped vehicles that are easy to maneuver in traffic and parking situations.

Class Format

Driver Education is a hybrid class with the first 30 hours taught in an online platform via Zoom. The link and handbook will be emailed to you two days before the class begins. However, payment must be made before the access code is sent to you. The remaining six hours of this course are taught behind the wheel.

FAQ

Do I need a learner’s permit to enroll in the driver education course?
No. You do not need a learner’s permit to enroll in the driver education course. You will need a learner’s permit before beginning the six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.

How old do I have to be?
You must be at least 16 years old in order to enroll in the Prince George’s Community College’s driver education course. Participants under the age of 18 need to have the consent of a parent or guardian.


Can I use the program vehicle for the MVA road test?
You may use the program vehicle for the MVA road test. There is an additional charge that will be collected when you schedule your road test.
